Zagori (the place behind the mountain) is an area of pristine natural beauty in the heart of protected “Northern Pindos National Park” which is part of Natura 2000 and a candidate location for UNESCO World Heritage . It comprises a group of 46 picturesque villages distinguished for their local history, rich culture, traditional cuisine and unique stone houses architecture.

The surrounding environment consists of dense forests, steep mountaintops, rivers with crystal clear waters and alpine lakes. Vikos Gorge, the deepest in the world with its famous crossing, Voidomatis river, the clearest in Europe with its beautiful stone bridge just outside of Aristi village, Drakolimni, the elusive mountain lake, and Gamila, the impressive mountain plateau, one of the best trekking routes, are just a few of the widely famous spots that attract thousands of visitors every year.
